Congrats to Jeremy Cohan and his doc short After, which just picked up the best short documentary award at the 2012 SENE film festival. This short keeps picking up hardware as it nears the end of it’s festival run.

Jokingly came up with this concept, and threw together the shoot the other day. We worked in a very limited timeframe and with few tools so the lighting and production design are a bit DIY. But we were more interested with having a good time!

Floy Wooten passed away this week, aged 86 years. We were all so lucky to have known her…she was unlike anyone that I have ever known, and we’re lesser without having her around. I shot one last interview with her when I visited in September, and lazily never edited the footage. Until that edit is completed here’s the first interview I shot with her a few winters ago. I’m glad that I have her on tape because she had such a great voice, and was a wonderful storyteller.

I really regret never getting her to record her “witches laugh” on camera. I remember when I was five or six and she was a librarian at the Setauket School I sat in when she was telling a ghost story in the library one Halloween. When she got to the end of the story and the “scare” line and did that laugh I shot up several feet in the air and hit my head on the ladder I was sitting on and ran out of the room bawling!

I’m already in love with my FS-100, and was surprised to hear about it’s upgrade so soon. While I’ve only had the FS100 for 10 months or so, it’s more or less paid for itself and I will no doubt be saving up my pennies for the FS700. I love the future proofing with the 4k upgrade, I’m sure it won’t be cheap…hopefully we will hear more information once NAB is underway.

Was in San Antonio for a quick job for OWN yesterday, and was staying right next to the Alamo. There really is no basement!

I really hope this program is coming to the Alamo Drafthouse’s in Houston. PLEASE ALAMO, TAKE MY MONEY!!!
