It’s been a LONG while since I’ve updated this blog, so here we go. Things have been a bit busy in Savage Henry Films land…but this week I finally have a bit of a breather.
SUPER MARSHA has nearly completed principal photography, and we have submitted a cut to the Austin Film Society to hopefully receive a grant to put towards post-production.
Marsha was a trooper and was always happy to shoot. I can only imagine how stressful it would be to just compete in the Ironman 70.3, let alone know that you’re being followed by a camera crew at nearly every stage. Our edit for the film should be complete by the fall, and will be shown in a private screening, and then begin a festival run.
Yesterday we wrapped TENDER MOMENTS, a short film made for the Louisiana Film Prize. The film follows our protagonist John (Brian Watson), as he gets laid off in Houston during the oil downturn, and flee’s with the company car to hide out in Shreveport.

We had a jam packed schedule, and shot on-location along the Red River for three days and got everything in the can….mostly on-schedule. I think I can speak for the Houston based crew and say we fell in love with Shreveport, it’s people, and amazing locations. I know that our grips especially loved leaving their money at the casino’s.

My co-director Alberto Govela, writer/producer Mariella De Alba were overjoyed with the performances we got from our cast (Brian Watson, Julitta Pourciau, Melanie Haynes, Shelley Black, Heather Bloom, and Joe Grisaffi). This morning I began prepping the footage for post-production. Our rough cut is due July 12th, and with a bit of luck we will make the top 20 films and have a screening in Shreveport in the fall.
Next up for the Savage Henry Films crew is the short film Wrong Numbers, a short film for Joshua Starnes. We’ll hopefully have some on-set updates for that in short order.
